Colour designer Anna von Ketteler on white walls and why it’s worth exploring wall colours:

I wonder how and when the rumour started that “white” is the optimal shade for our walls. White needs light; otherwise, it looks grey. Pure white, as we paint it on our walls, is rarely found in nature.

The aim of the collaboration was to create an even more harmonious connection between the exterior and interior, enhancing these unique homes built in classical architectural style with exquisite colours to make them even more beautiful and distinctive. Following extensive discussions with Axel Schmitz, colour designer Anna von Ketteler (both pictured on the left) developed four shades that will be used in all future RALF SCHMITZ projects. The colour quartet exudes a subtle, calm elegance – making it exceptionally versatile and easy to combine! Each shade has been named after family members from various generations of this traditional company.

Our first project in Cologne! It is a special pleasure for us to present this gem to you: In the coveted villa colony of Marienburg, we are realising a beautiful building whose design language suits the distinguished quarter. More than 100 years ago, visitors to Marienburg admired the buildings of renowned architects as they strolled through the shady avenues of the quarter. To this day, magnificent monuments with traditional architecture characterise the image of the quarter.

This year, we mark a historic moment: 160 years of innovation, creativity, and excellence in construction since our founding in 1864.
