To start, a few basic facts about natural stone: not every natural stone is marble. Most of the time, other stones like limestone, granite, quartzite or sandstone are the ones “hiding” under the polished and delicately shimmering surface.

Constructing the impressive façade of the “Eisenzahn 1” property took more than two months. The supporting structure was made of MDF; maple wood was then applied as a veneer for the flat areas and in solid wood for the cornices and bay windows, whose perfectly rendered lines and curves showcase the remarkable artistic skill of the model makers.

The firm’s fascinating history began in 1864 when Peter Heinrich Schmitz founded a construction company on the Lower Rhine. Churches, monasteries and factories as well as simple residential and commercial buildings were the purview of the company.
